Browsing through reddit I found this insane post of someone losing about a grand a week over the course of about 3 years. I don’t buy into the idea that just doing the reverse of a bad trade is inherently a good trade because once you include commissions, fees, time value, opportunity cost, and bid ask spreads it is easy for both sides of a trade to be a loser. That being said I see that this person says they basically did 0 day to expiration options and picked a direction. It is awfully tempting to consider just selling options and collecting theta decay after seeing something like this. Because of things like this I am looking more and more into using short term option selling strategies as another form of diversification in my accounts.
